A little wiser?

Here's a quick piece of news (totally irrelavent)......

I went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and they did x-rays. The dentist comes back and asks, "You didn't have all 4 wisdom teeth removed?". To which I replied, "I had all 4 removed about 10 years ago". He then showed me the x-ray with a 5th wisdom tooth!!! (This reminds me of the scene form My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the aunt is explaining to the new in-laws that the doctors found hair and teeth in a tumor- it was her twin). Anyway, the dentist told me that they would have to remove it if it pops through the tissue. Who says you only have to have your wisdom teeth removed once.... bummer.

Finally... an Update (just for you, Rob)

First of all, my sincere apologies for the lackluster effort on my part recently with the blog thing. I am motivated to do almost nothing at the moment. Which brings me to the next point... We still haven't heard anything about our jobs yet. I, for one, am getting tired of this holding pattern. Mike and I have been going into work to tie up loose ends but it's really slowing down for both of us now.

We did have a very nice Thanksgiving. We went up to Chicago to visit Mike's fam. While there we took Cole to the circus. He was a little scared of the clowns when we were on the floor but once in the stands he liked it. Below are some pics- sorry none of them came out too great. Anyway, we hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!!

Trip to St. Louis

Last week we went to St. Louis to check it out. We went to the coolest Children's Museum called the Magic House. It is more like a giant playhouse for kids with a play bank, grocery store, library, and pizzeria, in addition to the usual Children's Museum stuff (sand table, water table, tubes, blocks, etc). Cole had a blast there. We also visited the Arch and ate dinner downtown. And Sunday morning we went to the Zoo. The zoo was amazing and best of all it was free. St. Loius is a really cool city and suprisingly VERY pretty. I was expecting a concrete jungle but it is really a residential city with lots of trees. We give it two thumbs up!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We had a GREAT Halloween. Given Cole's comb over, the logical choice for costume this year was Donald Trump. We sprayed his hair orange, dressed him in a shirt and tie, and made a little briefcase for him. He is so cute.

At daycare, they have a big Halloween parade where all the kids come in their costumes and they traipse around the place. The local news came and covered it and Cole was on the news!! Mike and I laughed so hard when we saw it. What scream! So funny. Enjoy the clip and the pictures.

Recent developments

For those who may not have heard yet, Pfizer announced last week that they will no longer support the manufacture of Exubera. This was the product that Mike and I were working on in Indiana. Pfizer has sent everyone at the plant (~600 people) home on paid leave until further notice. Although no decisions have been made regarding the future of the plant, we are not optimistic about retaining our current positions here. We are, however, optimistic about our future. I fervently believe that everything happens for a reason, so now we just have to wait to see what that reason is. I post this just to let everyone know what's going on with us, please don't worry. After the inital shock, we are fine and less stressed. It's actually kinda nice to go into work for a couple hours whenever you want to (or not at all) to tie up loose ends but still get paid for 40! We'll keep you updated...

A bit corny

This past weekend we went to a farm / pumpkin patch. There was a hauted house (inflatable), corn maze (maize maze?), hay bale maze for the little ones, a slide, train, petting zoo, a giant corn box (like a sand box but with corn instead of sand) and pig races. Cole had a blast, especially with the animals- he really has a thing for chickens! I need to brag just a little that in the hay bale maze Cole didn't make one wrong turn- that's my boy!! However, Mike and I didn't fare so well in the big corn maze, we made several wrong turns and went around in circles. Overall, a fun time had by all. Here are some pics....

Balloon Fiesta

We're back from vacation and we had such a GREAT time!! It was so nice to see Rob, Jen, Kade, Payton and Grandma Judy! Kade and Payton are getting so big and sooooo cute! Cole had fun playing with Kade and annoying Payton. The balloons were incredible and the balloon ride was amazing (thanks Mom). There is an event at night called the Glowdeo which is where all the balloons stay on the ground and light up- it is so neat. Darth Vader was the balloon of note this year (see pic below) but the cow and dragon were my favs. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment (there are more at the link to the right)...

VACATION!!

We are heading on vacation to New Mexico to visit my brother and sister-in-law and their 2 kids, Kade and Payton. My Mom will be there too! While we are gone, I posted 3 videos for you to enjoy! These are some of my favorite things Cole does lately. I hope you like them as much as me (I realize this is impossible). Remeber, we LOVE to get your comments!! Later Gators!

Chair climb

Who knew highchairs were so much fun? Cole started climbing into his whenever he can. It scares the HECK out of me. We don't know whether to applaud or tell him no. Ah, parenting...

What does a lion say?

Cole knows what a cow says! (and a lion, duck, chicken, sometimes an elephant) And we're pretty excited about that. I felt a strange sense of releif that I was able to teach my son something- and he was able to learn. It's amazing how fast they can pick something up if they are paying attention! It's also pretty frightening- time to start really paying attention to what we're doing ;-)

Need a tissue?

Cole likes to pretend to blow his nose. We always get a kick out of it so we thought we'd share.

Cole Cleans?

Most of the time Cole is making a huge mess. But, appearently, he also really likes to Swiffer the kitchen floor. If you watch closely he clunks his head with the handle and you can hear him grunting. Who knew cleaning was hard work? Enjoy-

What Cole is talking about

Cole started saying the dreaded "nooo" the other day and now says it ALOT. It's helpful when it comes to meal times- we can point to something and he says "noooo" if he doesn't want it. In case you didn't know, his first word (besides dada and mama) was lasanga (he said it perfectly only once). His first real word was Ball. Here are some other words he's been saying lately.
  • Lay (play)
  • Side (either inside or outside)
  • Melmo (Elmo)
  • Elp (help)
  • Whadat (what's that)
  • choo-choo
  • Moo
  • Ello (hello or Jello depending on context)
  • cak cak (quack quack)
  • and a bunch of other incoherent (albeit adorable) nonsense

Dancing Machine

Here is a clip of Cole dancing. He only dances for 5-10 seconds at a time. But it's full force!!

Uh-oh

Cole's newest thing. It's soo cute, it makes me CRAZY!!!

We'd like to say...

CONGRATULATIONS to our friends Anne and Nick on their engagement!!! We are soooo excited for you! A special Congrats to you Nick for being romantic. YIPPIE! We love you guys.

Terre Haute Air Faire

This weekend we went to the Terre Haute Air Faire which is a festival and air show all in one. We saw paratroopers, a BlackHawk helicopter, a wing-walker (yawn), but the highlight was the F-15 demostration. It was very cool. We also saw a semi-truck cab that's outfitted with 3 jet engines- the SHOCKWAVE. It went 356mph. It was cool too. Cole had a good time- lots of people to look at and sky writing was fun too.

Cole's latest thing

Hi everyone. Cole has recently learned how to open doors by himself (watch video below). Now we really can't leave him alone for a second- he'll be half way down the hall!! He likes to knock on doors too. Enjoy 8-)

Yee-hah! To the Rodeo we go!!

Today we went to a rodeo. It was crazy hot! This is the second rodeo we've been to. At the first one we learned that Cole loves bullriding, so we went again. In one of the pictures below, all the kids in the crowd 12 and under went into the arena and chased some calves around to get a ribbon off their tails. It was so cute. We didnt stay for the bullriding today because- I mentioned how hot it was. We're really in the swing of things now in Indiana!!

A day at the Indy zoo

A few weeks ago we went to the Indianapolis Zoo. Cole really liked the polar bear and the dolphin show. Ironically in the first picture, Cole is eating animal crakers (bad karma?)Here are a couple of pictures....

We're back!

Welcome everyone. I thought it was about time (almost a year has gone by) to start another page for you guys to keep in touch with us and, of course, for us to show off our beautiful son. (I'm sure Grandma Judy can barely contain herself right now.) I'm really not a writer so I plan on using this blog mainly to post pictures. Also, I'm sure I won't get around to posting on a daily (or maybe, weekly) basis but will do my best. If you keep this in mind, we'll get along just fine. Please check in often to see what's up!
